Introduction
Pottery from the 1970s Cowroast excavations, dating from 1st and 2nd centuries AD.

The Dacorum Heritage Trust was formed in 1993 and achieved Registred Museum status from the MLA in 1997. The Trust is the museum organisation for the Borough of Dacorum, based at the Museum Store in Clarence Road, Berkhamsted. Click here to see a map of the Store.

This historic building was originally the fire station and was specially converted, including environmental controls in 1994. The Museum Store is the home of the heritage of Dacorum, where over 60,000 objects are stored and catalogued for the benefit of present and future generations. The Store has been fully equipped with mobile shelving in the past two years and more information about this can be found here.

We are open by appointment, Monday to Friday,10am - 4pm. Please contact the Store to make an appointment. Regretably, due to the nature of the building, the store is not fully accesible, although alternative arrangements can be made.

To find out more about the collection, why not come to one of our monthly tours? We also offer a enquiry and research service, which is of particular interest to family history researchers, and local history enthusiasts. Displays of objects can be seen in many of Dacorum's local librarys - click here for details of what's on where. Details of our local history publications can be found on the Publications page.
