Berkhamsted Castle 1066 to 1495

In 1066, following the defeat of the English, William the Conqueror gave the area around Berkhamsted to his half brother, Robert of Mortain. Robert stamped his mark by building a castle. Using documentary information from various sources the author describes the castle up to its last occupier in 1495.
