The Collections

There are currently over 60,000 items housed at the Museum Store, the vast majority of which have been catalogued onto a computerised collection management system. The collections include:

  • Photographs and postcards - particularly of the Berkhamsted, Gadebridge Villa DisplayHemel Hempstead and Kings Langley areas.
  • Archaeology - various roman villa excavations including Gadebridge Roman Villa and the Kings Langley Royal Palace.
  • Industry - John Dickinson's the paper manufacturers of Hemel Hempstead, Cooper, McDougall & Robertson Ltd. of Berkhamsted and the Ovaltine (Novartis) Collection.
  • Artwork - This includes a collection of paintings, etchings and drawings by 19th century Hemel Hempstead born artist Lefevre James Cranstone.
