King Henry VIII

We would like to humbly introduce His Majesty King Henry the Eighth

King Henry is visiting The Dacorum Heritage Trust to find out more about us and also to learn as much as possible about the history of the Dacorum area.

Did you know that King Henry VIII had links to the local areas of Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted?

It was Henry VIII who granted a Charter of Incorporation to Hemel Hempstead on the 29th December 1539. This allowed the town to have a weekly market. More details here.

During his reign he stayed in Ashridge with his children, and would go hunting for deer in the extensive woods.

Keep a look out for more of King Henry’s adventures on this website, and our Facebook and Twitter pages via¬†#HeritagewithHenry
