Fireworks and Festivals

From February 12th – February 20th we will be using an empty shop unit within Marlowes shopping centre to host our Fireworks and Festivals event!
Come along to view our exhibition including information all about Brocks fireworks, who were once located in Hemel Hempstead. Hear stories from those who worked there to get an insider’s perspective of the time as well as view the beautiful artwork created earlier in the year specifically for our event. Get to know those in your community including local faith groups and cultural organisations as we invite you to come along to share local heritage stories, festival heritage stories all to help contribute to our collection. Come and be a part of sharing your community’s local history!

We have an exciting series of events and sessions taking place throughout the week:

Saturday 12th February – Witness the creation of Rangoli Art. Before your eyes you will see shapes and patterns form from the arrangement of coloured rice.   The artist will be creating their Rangoli from 10.15 till 12.15 and then the rangoli will be place until the end of the exhibition.

Sunday 13th February – Dacorum Indian Society Garba Group will be showcasing their traditional folk dance from the Gujarat region. Their shows start 12.10pm, 12.23 and a possible final show at 12.50 find them in the Centre Court, Marlowes Shopping Centre.

Monday 14th February –  From 11- 2.00 Come along to an object handling session courtesy of The Jewish Museum in London.

Thursday 17th February 10 -1.30-  Come celebrate the year of tiger by creating  your own tiger mask on a paper plate. This is a drop in, self-lead session.

Saturday 19th  February- 12-1 pm  K’z entertainment will be leading a Bollywood dance workshop.  Come and learn to how to do a Bollywood dance.

We want this event to brfireworks and festivals banner imageing people together and celebrate after what has been a hard year for many.

Library and Civic Centre Displays

Dacorum Heritage has 2 permanent displays in the borough, one in the Berkhamsted Library and one in Berkhamsted Civic Centre. Berkhamsted Civic Centre is currently closed due to COVID 19 restrictions.  Please follow guidance from our library assistants at Berkhamsted Library.
