Fun Palace 2021

FUNPALACES21

Did you know Hemel Hempstead was the home to one of the biggest fireworks factories in the country?
As part of this year’s Fun Palaces activities, we will be creating a community art piece which, once completed, will go on display at our Fireworks and Festivals exhibition early next year. During the drop in event from 10-12pm on October 2nd at Berkhamsted Arts and Craft Shop you will be able to learn more about Brocks Fireworks and add to a large firework display on canvas!

To book in please ring the Berkhamsted arts and crafts shop on 01442 866632

Dacorum Folk Fest

Do you have plans on October 9th? Why not join Dacorum Heritage Trust at our upcoming folk event set to take place at Berkhamsted Pavilion from 7pm!
Celebrate the history of folk in our area by grabbing a drink from the onsite bar whilst chatting and (hopefully) dancing to local folk songs performed by a live band. You may even want to get involved with some of our traditional crafts like straw plaiting!

Rangoli art is intricate and usually created on a table top or even the floor. The pattern is typically created using materials such as powdered lime stone, coloured sand, flower petals, and coloured rocks.

Fireworks and Festivals

From February 12th – February 20th we will be using an empty shop unit within Marlowes shopping centre to host our Fireworks and Festivals event!
Come along to view our exhibition including information all about Brocks fireworks, who were once located in Hemel Hempstead. Hear stories from those who worked there to get an insider’s perspective of the time as well as view the beautiful artwork created earlier in the year specifically for our event. Get to know those in your community including local faith groups and cultural organisations as we invite you to come along to share local heritage stories, festival heritage stories all to help contribute to our collection. Come and be a part of sharing your community’s local history!

We want this event to brfireworks and festivals banner imageing people together and celebrate after what has been a hard year for many.
